Clara Mouriz was born in Saint
Sebastian, Spain in 1977. She graduated with distinction in singing
in her final exam prize from the L'Escola Superior de Canta de Madrid
in June 2002, and won the Cordelia Moses Scholarship to the Royal Academy
of Music. Clara is currently in her second year with the RAM studying
with Noelle Barker and Iain Ledingham. She has taken part in masterclasses
with Victoria de los Angeles, Tereza Berganza, Wolfran Reiger, Istran
Cseryan, Paul Keisgen, Udo Rheineman, Ann Murray and vocal technique
lessons with Josefina Arregiu.
She recently formed a duo ensemble with the classical guitarist Thomas
Lavigne. Her concert and oratorio highlights include Mozart's Mass
in C minor, and Vivaldi's Gloria, Handel's Messiah and
Falla's El amor Brujo.
Clara's operatic appearances
include, La Nina Blanca in the premier of Anton Garcia Abrit's 'Divinas
Palabras' at the Teatre Real, Madrid, Cherubino in Figaro, Dorabell
(Cosi fan tutte) Melibea (Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival,
Pesaro. Nutrice and amor (l'incoronazione di Poppea) Monteverdi, 2nd
lady (Magic Flute) Rosina(Barber of Seville) Hansel (Hansel and Gretel).
She has won many
prestigious awards including the Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks award in
2004.
