Richard's RAM/RCM music medals

Richard's widow Elizabeth Muir-Lewis recently discovered two RAM/RCM medals awarded to him during the 1930s. Here's their story.

Richard Lewis - then singing under his original name of Tom Thomas - was a highly gifted young chorister and gained distinctions in many of his Associated Board exams including for his Grade 6 and Grade 8 music theory exams, both of which were awarded to him as Gold 'highest distinction' medals in 1934 and 1937 respectively, the latter being awarded to him in person by the then Duke of Kent. 'Tom' was at the time 20 and 23 years old.
